Week 7 – Xmas Break

Its the final round of fixtures before the Xmas Break, and this week was the week of ton plus checkouts, with them recorded in every division.

In division three the Carriers have gone five wins on the bounce, this win against the DSAA C puts them joint second with the Nelson and the Northern Diamonds. Highlight of the match was the 126 checkout from Dave Hamshare of the Carriers. Thats this biggest checkout so far this season in that division.

The Hairy Crown are top of the league, they beat the Old Endeavour 9-0, the Nelson were 9-0 winners after a no show from the DSAA Misfits and the Northern Diamonds were 6-3 winners against the Sportsman. Paul Culley of the northern Diamonds checked out on 116.

The Sea Lions were 6-3 winners against the Phoenix C, a result which moves them above their opponents on the night.

With division two I will start with a couple highlights missed from last week, Tom and Margaret Sullivan both hit 180s for the Diamond C and Mike Matthews of the Three Cups checked out on 113.

This week the Three Cups continued with their winning run, they beat the Admiral Harvey A 6-3. They sit two points clear of the Crown & Sceptre who beat the Diamond C 7-2.

The Bull Dogs beat the Carriers B 6-3 and the Admiral Harvey B made it two wins in a row with a 5-4 win against the Phoenix Rising.

After a very sluggish start to the season the Boars Head A have now three games in a row, they beat the DSAA Hope 5-4.

Main highlights on the night in division two was a couple of 180s, one a piece for Louis Pearson and Marc Thorp.

Into division one, and the Bull A reach Christmas unbeaten, They beat the Diamond 5-4, and to say it went to the last game of the match doesn’t really give it justice. Final game, one leg all, both players leave double 10, Andy Howell wins the match for the Bull, beating George Clark. The match included a 156 checkout for Paul Turner.

There were two 9-0s on the night, the Boars Head Arrows beat the Bull B, Blake Manton checked out on 119 for the Arrows. Ben Cooper of the Old Endeavour hit a 180 in their 9-0 win against the Real Diamonds.

After a couple of defeats on the bounce the Boars Head C beat the Phoenix Maddogs 6-3, the Boars now have a four point gap between them and their opponents on the night.

The DWMC B cracking season continues, they beat the Dewdrop Oast 5-4, Bob Oliver and John Ross both hit 180s.

There are no matches this Friday, however on Thursday the Three Cups are holding another money in money out knockout, 7.30 start.

We are holding the event again this year, but this time it’s also open to the friends of Nigel, not just Diamond players. Please note there are no league matches this night.

On top of the money in money out, £50 will also be added to the prize fund by Teresa. As we are capping to 32 there will be a registration form at the Diamond from Friday 15th if you wish to pop in and pre register.
