Since the last report the Dover super league side have had 2 more games both away against the other top 2 sides in the league. Tonbridge before Christmas and Northfleet on the 5th Jan

It’s a bit of a case of the Bad and the Good

The Bad

Tonbridge 7 Dover 2

A weaken team again travelled to Tonbridge on the 22nd DEC and the normal story of missed doubles cost us dear. Going 4 – 0 down with 2 games going to the last leg and us missing doubles to win each game. We managed to pull 2 legs back in the 5th and 7th games but a very good Tonbridge side were to much for us on the night. I make a point of not mentioning individual games but will mention exceptional performances. Making his debut due to the lack of players available Luke Blthye produced a winning performance against a class opponent, hitting Double 10 in the deciding leg not allowing his opponent a shot at a double.

The Good

Northfleet 4 Dover 5

Again a team missing many names travelled to Northfleet the only unbeaten team in the league. It started as the same old story of missed doubles starting to cost us. The Dover side played exceptional against quality opposition but after winning a scrappy first game fell behind 4 – 1 and the writing seamed to be on the wall. Then the tide turned and after winning the 6th leg 3 – 2 and the next two 3 – 1 and the 3 – 0 the game was tied at 4 each. A tense last game saw the Nothfleet skipper going 2 – 1 up before being clawed back and eventually losing the deciding leg after missing a single dart at tops then Dover taking the same double on the 3rd arrow.

Many great performances on the night with Vennes, Pearce, Lowe and Mills all playing well but a special mention goes to Richie Buckle with an average of 31.98 per dart to put him near the top of the Kent averages, and a exceptional performance by Tony (Shadow) Selby to hold his nerve to win the deciding game to me were tops

Next week we are at home so all welcome, we need the support and we now have use of a mini bus so provided we find a driver travelling should improve. All stats can be found on the Kent super league website.

On a sour note we have signed over 20 player but still trouble at times to field a side (especially away) so those committed need to start appearing work permitting, also if you took a shirt at the start and no longer intend to play can it be returned.

We are also looking for sponsorship to offset the costs of playing in Kent’s premier league so would love to hear from any interested parties.

Thanks

Neil

WEEK 8 DOVER 5 TOVIL 4

Probably the biggest team win in Dover Darts history.

Super League winners for the last 4 years with 8 Kent A county players in their side lost to Dover 5 – 4

And with a little bit of luck it could have even been 6 -3

With out singling out anyone as all achieved averages above normal the team not only played well but they supported each other throughout the game.

All those who know darts will understand what a momentous achievement this result is.

I would like to thank all that attended making it a great night for Dover Darts and shows that with a little luck and a lot of effort we can now compete with the very best.

As a New team we hoped to secure a mid table place in the league this season but this result was above our wildest dreams and shows what can be achieved.

I have attached the score sheet for the night but remember it is a team game not individuals

Thanks hope you can post this on your website
