The Bull Public House hosted
the second Dover Invitation Darts League Pairs knockout last Friday
which proved to be another massive success.
39 pairs filled the pub to take part, 12
more than last season, with representatives from most teams throughout the
league.
The eventual winners, Gary Mills and Ash
Battie from the Bull beat Kevin Green and Paul Turner of the Boars Head B in a
high scoring tight final 3-1.
Gary and Ash’s run to the final started
in the preliminary round against Geena Hindry and Harry Atkins. They run out
2-0 winners to reach the last 32. Next up was Dave Geeler and Wayne Short of
the Hairy Bull side; again they won 2-0.
Tony Knightingale and Jason Davey of the
Seaman’s Mission were the third side to loose 2-0 to the Bull boys as they
booked a place in the quarterfinals. Russell and Eddie Herbert of the Old
Endeavour A were up next, again 2-0 to Ash and Gaz in a high quality tight
match.
Tony “Mario” Kemp and Graham “Barney”
Barnes of the Boars Head B were their semi final opponents. On route Tony and
Barney beat Shirley Oxley and Dave Drummond of the old Endeavour A, Gareth
Morgan and Warren Dyer of the Archer, Dean Smith and Jason Breeden of the
Kingfisher and Billy “Dinga” Bell and Jeff Such of the Bull A.
Gary and Ash once again ran out 2-0
winners to book a place in the final.
Their opponents Kevin Green and Paul
Turner started in the last 32. Their first opponents were Gary Biggs and Paul
Perking of the DSAA A. Kev and Paul ran out 2-0 winners to book a place in the
last 16. Barry Dyer and Roger Coulson of the Archer pushed hard all match, Kev
hitting double 10 to put the Boars Head boys into the last 8. Paul and Kev
beat Gareth Speakman and George Clarke
2-0, however Gareth did have the scalp of knocking out his father Gordon and Kev
Boakes in the first round.
Semi final opponents Ian Moulson and Bob
Dryden beat Dave Wallace and Luke Quested of the Bull B, Graham Irons and Jim
Chalmers of the Phoenix A and finally , Dennis and Brian Painter of the DSAA in
the quarters on route. Paul and Kev ran out 2-0 winners to book a place in the
final.
In the Final Gary and Ash clinical
finishing and high scoring gave them an early 2-0 lead. A double 4 finish in
the third leg by Paul Turner took the game to a fourth and eventually final leg
as Gary and Ash ran out 3-1 winners.
This week is the singles at the Phoenix
Railway Club, a reminder that the presentation is at 7.15pm and registration
ends at the same time. Players are encouraged to arrive early as they draw is
capped to 64 players entrants will not be accepted after 7.15.
