The Dover
Invitation Darts League welcomed Steve “The Bronzed
Adonis” and Andy “The Hammer” Hamilton to Dover to
present all the trophies for the summer league
campaign and to take on local players in an
exhibition. The event attracted 220 spectators at a
packed Bluebirds.
Steve Beaton
started the evening by braying Mark Bax of the
Golden Lion and then Simon “The Face Man” Whatmore
of the Admiral Harvey B. Steve hit a 180 in both of
these legs.
Dave Cassell, of
the Golden Lion beat Steve, despite Steve hitting
his third maximum in as many legs.
Next up was Chris
Bent, and once again it was a victory for the league
as Chris sneaked another win.
Andy Hamilton then
came to the oche and he hit a 180 in his win against
the Harvey A’s Dan Cameron, the division two singles
winner.
Kerry Burdett was
the lucky player to have her name drawn out of the
hat to win the chance to play the Hammer. The
Hammer was on double eleven whilst Kerry was on
226. He then gave her the chance to take away any
number from her score. She took the first 2 off,
leaving herself 26, and went and hit it with her
third dart.
Next up was Steve
Habbershaw of the Real Diamonds; Andy beat him and
followed that with a win against Dover Darts Hall of
Fame inductee Billy Bell.
After the interval
Gary Mill partnered Steve Beaton against Al Terry
and Andy Hamilton and ran out 2-1 winners. Hamilton
hit a 180; however, Gary Mills brilliant scoring
which included back to back 140’s ensured the
victory.
The second pairs
saw Alan Humphries and Andy Hamilton beat Paul
Martin and Steve Beaton 2-1, this time Beaton hit a
180.
Darren “Who Are Ya”
Hyder checked out on a superb 110 finish to beat
Steve. The Adonis bounced straight back, beating
Kevin Green and
hitting another 180 before he checked out.
Lloyd Clubb of the
Bull E and Ritchie Buckle of the Hairy Bull were the
last two players on, with the Hammer beating them
both. Andy also hit another 180 against Lloyd.
The two pros then
played a best of seven legs match against each
other. Steve Beaton raced to a 3-1 lead, only for
the Hammer to fight back to make it 3-3. Beaton won
the final leg to win 4-3, in a superb game of
darts. Steve also hit another two 180’s in this
match to make seven for him on the night, whilst
Andy hit three.
The league would
like to thank Bluebirds once again for hosting the
presentation night, and a special thank you to the
Park Inn who once again provided accommodation for
the professional players free of charge.
