I am delighted as Chairman of the Dover Invitation Darts League to confirm this week that we have approved two formal applications of funding from our new Community & Charity Fund.

Dover Rangers Colts Football Club were successful in their application for £300 to assist in the cost of sending local under 15 year old boys to the May Day Football Festival at Butlins in Bognor Regis.  We obviously wish the boys all the best for the event, and we look forward to hearing back from the team on their return from the trip later in the year.

Lisa Burt applied to help her achieve the minimum sponsorship required to run the London Marathon. Competitors must raise £1800 to take part and we hope that our donation of £100 will help her reach the target, which will all go to Clic Sargent, a charity that focuses on giving support to children with Cancer and their families. Lisa is running in memory of local lad Carl Jacobs, “Best of Luck Lisa”!

PLEASE NOTE THAT FUNDS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR DISTRIBUTION IN MARCH 2012.

As agreed at the Winter registration the Dover Invitation Darts League are launching the Community & Charity Fund.

In essence, very little will change with collection boxes still at every venue, however, how the money would be used will be the key difference.

Instead of automatically sending the money to a designated charity we will invite local groups to apply to us for a donation. It could be a Youth Football Team, Soup Kitchen, OAP Club, Hospice, Youth Club, Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Sea Cadets, the list could go on, and on.
