CHAIRMAN'S BLOG - AS THE FULL WEEKLY REPORT SENT TO THE PRESS IS NOT PUBLISHED EVERY WEEK, LOG ON AND HAVE A READ.

The Dover Invitation Darts League sends its heart felt wishes to the family of Calvin Chaplin, who sadly passed away on Thursday after a long battle with Cancer.  Calvin was true lover of the game, a great player and most of all a top gentleman who will be missed by us all.

My personal memories of Calvin will always be of joy, a man who always wanted to have a bit of a giggle.  Just two years ago at the presentation night, Calvin managed to get himself in the photos of both the winners and runners up for Division One.  His team, the Bull A were the winners, and the Diamond were the runners-up.  Did we take the photo again, of course not, that was Calvin, and we all had a giggle with him.

Calvin Chaplin, a man I am proud to say was my friend, and so do many, many other people in this Town.

So this week we start our round up in division one with the Bull A, who romped to an 8-1 victory over the Archer.  That made it ten wins on the bounce for the Bull, as they continue to keep the pressure on the current leaders the Malvern.

We are staying at the Bull as the Bull B won for the first time this season.  The ran out 5-4 winners against the Seaman’s Mission, a result that has effectively relegated the Mission along with the Bull.

Top darts were thrown at the Three Cups this week.  Alan Francombe of the Cups hit a new highest finish of the season with a 160, whilst Kev Boakes, George Clark and Jeff Such all of the Diamond hit 180’s during the Diamonds 5-4 victory.

The Hairy Bull won comfortably against the Boars Head B, racing to a 4-0 and eventually ran out 7-2 winners.

The Malvern stay top of the tree after a 6-3 win against the Phoenix Cups, with stand in skipper Mark Clayton hitting a 180 during the match.

Division two and the Admiral Harvey A slipped to a 6-3 defeat against the DSAA B, a result that moves them down to third in the table.

The Old Endeavour continued with their winning ways, this week a 5-4 win against mid table Archer.

The Boars Head D lost 7-2 against the Phoenix A, a result which probably confines the Boars Head to relegation.

Division Three, can any one catch The Carriers, probably not as they are now four points clear with just four games remaining and remembering they have only lost one to date.

Second placed Lord Nelson ran out 5-4 winners against the Admiral Harvey B, to keep their slim chances of winning the league alive.

The Eagles winning run came to and end as they lost 5-5 against the King Edward and the Boars Head A were comfortable 7-2 winners against the Golden Lion.

PAUL TURNER

Week 13 of the Dover Invitation Darts League, and once again the usual suspects at the top of the league continued with their winning ways.

In Division One the Malvern were victorious 6-3 against the Hairy Bull.  Peter “Tucker” Fry in cracking form during in his pairs match, recording two 180’s.  We won’t mention your singles “Tucker”.  6-3 sounds comfortable, but that certainly wasn’t the case, as most of the games went to the third leg.

Not a good night all in all for the Hairy Bull, Martin Pepe’s 150 finish was beaten this week by Kevan Hackett of the Bull A.  His out shot was 158, treble twenty, treble twenty, double 19.  This was part of the Bull A’s 7-2 win against the Three Cups A, who earlier in the season recorded a surprise victory against relentless title contenders.  Gary Mills hit his third 180 of the season and Andy Howells hit his sixth, both for the Bull whilst Alan Terry of the Three Cups hit his first.

Lee Ware hit his seventh 180 of the season for the Boars Head B, whilst team mate Jim Philpott hit his first in a match.  The Boars Head ran out 6-3 winners against the Bull B, with Graham Raines hitting his first 180 of the season for the Bull.  The Bull B are still looking for their first win this season, and next week they face the Seaman’s Mission, who are struggling of late themselves.

This week the Mission fell to the hands of the DDT’s, Jeff “The Excitable” Such hit his first 180 of the season during the 7-2 victory.  The final game of division one game went in favour of the Phoenix A, with a 6-3 score line against the Archer.  Warren Dyer of the Archer hit a 180 during the match which was reverse of the score in the first half of the season.

Tony Brown hit his third 180 of the season during his match against the Boars Head D.  The Falstaff ran out 7-2 winners to keep their unbeaten run going.  Captain Lloyd Clubb pointing out that Kev “The Rev” Walker has been an unsung hero for the Falstaff this season with steady consistent darts.

The Admiral Harvey A sneaked over the line with a 5-4 win against the Sportsman to stay second in the table, and their closest rivals the Boars Head C won 6-3 against the Archer.  The Boars Head C will be playing the remainder of their league fixtures from the Crown and Sceptre.

The Old Endeavour B returned to winning ways after last weeks defeat against the Falstaff with a 7-2 win against the Phoenix A.  And finally in division two, after seven weeks without a win the DSAA B won for the second week on the bounce with a 6-3 win against the Golden Lion A.

The Eagle of division three ran out 5-4 winners against second placed Boars Head A to record the second win in as many weeks.  Gina Hindry of the Eagle took out a respectable 112 out shot during the match.

The DSAA A romped to a 5-0 lead against the Admiral Harvey B, the game ended up 5-4 and the Angling picked up their first win since week three and finally league leaders the Carriers romped to an 8-1 victory over the St Paul’s Club.

If thirteen 180’s were not enough for you last week, one more was received after going to press last week, John O'Donohue of the King Edward hit his first ever in a match.

Paul Turner

Oneeee Hundred and Eightyyyyyyyy!!!!!!  If Sid Waddell was commentating on the Dover Invitation Darts League on Friday he would have been shouting, “Super Tungsten Tossing” as no less than thirteen maximums were recorded on the night.  Four were recorded in one match, and division two teams hit the most.

Starting with the leaders in division one this week, the Malvern who were playing bottom of the table Bull B.  The Malvern ran out comfortable 7-2 winners with Keith Waymark, Paul Perkins and Mark Clayton all playing well.  Second placed Bull A won by the same margin against the Phoenix Cups.  180’s were recorded by Mick Law of the Phoenix and Andy Howells of the Bull A, which was his fifth of the season.

Lee Ware recorded his sixth 180 of the season in his pairs match for the Boars Head B against the Diamond.  Ware played rather well in the pairs, also finishing on 108 and in the final deciding leg scored 401 of the 501.  Another tight game all in all with the Diamond leading 3-1 before a mini revival from the Boras Head put them 4-3 thanks to wins from Kevin Green, who hit his second 180 of the season, Frank Green and Paul Turner.  Gordon Speakman beat Tony Kemp two zip to take the match to the final game.  Karl Fagg defeated Lee Ware 2-1 for a Diamond win, and Sid Waddell would have said, “Lee Ware is like Long John Silver - he's badly in need of another leg."

I seem to be typing these words every Sunday, “Ritchie Buckle hit a 180 during the match”.  Well he did it again this week to make it eleven for the season, the same amount as his two closest rivals added together.  This week it was against the Archer as the Hairy Bull ran out 5-4 winners.

And finally from division one the Three Cups kept up their good form with a 7-2 win against the Seaman’s Mission, who look set for a return to division two as they are six points adrift from the third to bottom Phoenix Cups.

Division two and the Falstaff v Old Endeavour was the big 180 fest.  The Falstaff, who look un-stoppable, ran out 6-3 winners with Lloyd Club and Tony Brown hitting 180’s for the winning side.  Mark Culley and Bob Dryden of the Old Endeavour hit their first 180’s of the season.

The battle for runners up spot was hotly contested at the Boars Head with the B team taking on the Admiral Harvey A.  The Boars Head took an early comfortable lead winning all three pairs.  The Harvey battled back but eventually the Boars Head ran out 5-4 winners.  Craig “Big Man” Morton hit his third 180 of the season whilst Tom Birch hit his first, both for the Harvey gang.  The Harvey still sit in second place, albeit on game difference, so over the remainder of the season each game could be vital.

The Phoenix A defeated the Archer Whitfield 5-4, Fred Hall of the Phoenix shot out on 102 and Nick “17” Dowley hit his first 180 of the season for the Archer.  The DSAA B picked up their first win for seven weeks as they won 5-4 against the Boars Head D and the Sportsman won 5-4 against the winless Golden Lion A.

The Golden Lion B are no longer without a win, as they won 5-4 against the DSAA A in division three.  Whilst at the top of the table the Carriers Arms won 6-3 against the Admiral Harvey B.  Mike Walker of the Carriers hit his first ever 180, on his 30th Birthday.

Maybe a little surprise at the Three Cups as they won 7-2 against the second placed Boars Head A.  The Lord Nelson took full advantage of this slip up, winning 7-2 against the Eagle to keep up their hunt for the runners up spot.

Maybe with an outside chance of the runners up spot is the St Paul’s club, they ran out 6-3 winners against the King Edward.

If that wasn’t enough 180’s for you, a few that were missed from previous reports were recorded by Warren Kingsnorth and Neil Sanford of the Bull B and Alan Francombe of the Three Cups A.

And a final Sid Waddell comment, his description of a 180, “It’s like throwing three pickled onions into a thimble.”

Paul Turner

The Bull A romped to a 9-0 resounding victory in division one this week against the Seaman’s Mission.  The recent good form of the Bull has meant that they have now got a better game average than the Malvern, which could be the telling point come the end of the season.  Remember the winter league division one was won by the Bull because they had a better game win ratio than the Diamond.

Speculation I know, but it does make the Bull A v The Malvern match on the 11th July a little bit tasty.  However, let us not forget there are many other teams in this league capable of causing an upset or two.

One of those sides who are capable of beating any team in the league is the Hairy Bull.  They obviously have Ritchie Buckle playing well, but the rest of the team are also playing some cracking darts.  Martin Pepe is till the highest finish holder, with a 150, and this week the Moose and Ritchie Buckle threw an 11 dart leg in the pairs in their 6-3 win against the Phoenix Cups.  Buckle with a 140 and his tenth 180 of the season, and the Moose hitting a 125 and the 56 out shot in two darts.

This was the end of a recent four game winning streak by the Phoenix Cups.

The Malvern ran out 5-4 winners against the DDT’s and the Three Cups defeated the Boars Head B 6-3.  Lee Ware of the Boars Head hit his fifth 18-0 of the season during the match.  In the final game of division one the Archer completed the double over the Bull B with a 7-2, a welcomed win for Morgo’s boys, who had lost the previous five matches.

In division two the Falstaff ran out comfortable 7-2 winners against the Archer Whitfield.  Nick “17 Sausages” Dowley and Bob Clark were the two for the Archer, and even the Captain of the Archer said, “Simply outclassed”.  Lee Edwards of the Falstaff hit his first 180 of the season during the match.

So the real battle is going be for the second spot, and the Admiral Harvey A are currently min the driving seat.  They ran out 8-1 winners against the Golden Lion A this week, whilst their closest rivals the Boars Head C won 7-2 at the Phoenix A.  Next week the Harvey make the short trip up to the Boars Head, a match that could put the Harvey well and truly in control, or make it a tight final run of the season.

The Old Endeavour B were victorious 5-4 against the DSAA B, and the Sportsman won by the same margin against the Boars Head D.

In division three St Paul’s completed the double against the winter league division three winners with a 5-4 win.  The Carriers Arms ran out 7-2 winners against bottom of the table the Golden Lion B whilst the Boars Head A won 6-3 winners against the King Edward to stay in second spot, which was reverse of the result in the first half of the season.

The Lord Nelson are hoping that the top two slip up as they keep winning, this week against the Three Cups with an impressive 8-1 score line.  Finally, The Eagle defeated the DSAA A 5-4, with Christine Drummond beating Albert Kemp in the final singles of the night.

Paul Turner

It is that time of the season for the reversal of the fixtures and the first opportunity for revenge from the opening week of the season.  The DDT’s were the first team to do exactly that, running out 7-2 winners against the Archer.  The Archer were leading 2-1 after the pairs and were looking to complete the double, but the Diamond Boys won all six singles to run out comfortable winners.  George Clark recorded his first 180 of the season in the match which was also the Archer’s fifth defeat on the bounce.

The Malvern A stayed at the top of the table as the completed the double of the Three Cups.  Mark Clayton hit his first 180 of the season during the 8-1 victory.  The Bull A kept up the pressure as they ran out 7-2 winners against pub rivals the Hairy Bull.  Ian Moulson of the Bull A hit his first 180 of the season whilst Ritchie Buckle of the Hairy Bull hit his eights and ninth.

The Boars Head B ran out 7-2 winners against the Seaman’s Mission and the consistently inconsistent Phoenix Cups found some consistency as they won 7-2 against the Bull B.

The Archer Whitfield were the only team in division two to reverse the result from earlier in the season.  In the first week of the season they lost 6-3 against the DSAA B, but with the help of Paul Clennell’s first 180 of the season they won 7-2.

The Falstaff won 7-2 winners against the Phoenix A, to stay at the top of the table and to continue the long unbeaten run.  The Admiral Harvey A won comfortably 8-1 against the Boars Head D to stay second whilst the Boars Head C continued their search for second spot with a 7-2 win against the Golden Lion A.

The Boars Head and the Harvey face each other in two weeks time, a match that could put the Harvey in full control of their own destiny, or make things a bit tasty for the final run in.

The Old Endeavour B completed the double over the Sportsman, a repeat of the result earlier in the season, 5-4.

The Carriers are looking likely to be promoted from division three as they won 6-3 against the Eagle.  Their closest rivals are the Boars Head A who beat the ST Paul’s club by the same margin, next week the Boars Head will play the King Edward, who along with the Carriers were the only teams to beat them in the first half of the season.

The Three Cups B picked up their third win of the season and their second against the DSAA A as they won 6-3 to jump them in the table.  The Admiral Harvey B won 7-2 against the Golden Lion B to keep them third in the table.

And finally, Lee “The Warrior” Burnett hit his first 180 of the season during the Lord Nelsons 5-4 win against the King Edward.

Paul Turner

We have reached the half way point in the league campaign of the Dover Invitation Darts League, and surprise results have certainly been the flavour of the season to date.  This week was no different, as the Archer suffered their fourth defeat in as many weeks, as a depleted side lost 9-0 to the Three Cups.

The consistently inconsistent Phoenix Cups defeated the DDT’s 7-2, the Phoenix romped to a 3-0 in the pairs, whilst Karl Fagg and Ralph Speakman were the only two victorious players from the Diamond.

The Malvern had a bit of a scare this week, the Seaman’s Mission battling hard to move away from the relegation zone eventually lost 5-4 with Mark Clayton winning the all important fifth game of the match for the league leaders.

The Bull A kept the pressure on with a 7-2 win against the Boars Head B.  The Bull won all the pairs, and always really looked comfortable.  Andy Howells recorded his fourth 180 of the season in his singles match.

The Hairy Bull beat the Bull B in tight affair.  Gealers army ran out 5-4 winners with Martin Pepe beating Graham Rains in the final match of the night.

In division two the Falstaff (nee Wheelwrights) reached the halfway point without defeat as they ran out 6-3 winners against the Boars Head C.  It looks like the Boars Head will be battling out for the runners up spot with the Admiral Harvey A, as the Falstaff continue with their relentless winning ways.

The Harvey ran out 7-2 winners this week against the Old Endeavour B.  The Old E were 2-1 up after the pairs before the Harvey completed the clean sweep of the singles.  Craig Morton hit his second 180 of the season.

The Boars Head D picked up their second win in three weeks with a 5-4 win at the Golden Lion and the Archer Whitfield moved in to the top half of the table with a 5-4 win down at the Sportsman.

In the final game from division two the DSAA B lost 5-4 against the Phoenix A, the fifth defeat on the bounce for the new boys from the Angling Club.

In division three the Boars Head A defeated the Lord Nelson emphatically with an 8-1 victory.  This result puts Doreen’s boys in second place behind the Carriers.  Apologies to Derek King who hit his first 180 of the season last week against the DSAA A for the Boars Head.

The Carriers ran out 7-2 winners against the Three Cups to continue their hunt for promotion.  It seems that 7-2 was the result of the day, as the Admiral Harvey beat the Eagle by the same margin, as did the King Edward against the DSAA A and St Paul’s against the Golden Lion.  Both the Golden Lion sides are still looking for their first win of the season, and if results continue this way they will be in the same league next season.

Regular readers will remember a few weeks ago of the success representatives from the Railway Club had in Ashford for the regional competition.  Ritchie Buckle, Rob Bennett Jeff Such and Barrie Knott were victorious once again this week as they won the national fours title at Eastbourne.  Well done lads!!

Paul Turner

The Malvern won the battle at the top of division one in the Dover Invitation Darts League with a steady 6-3 win over the Boars Head B.  The Malvern were lead 2-1 after the pairs and then raced to finish line 5-1, with wins from Peter “Tucker” Fry, Mark Clayton and Dennis Painter.  Keith Waymark made the score 6-1 before Lee Ware and Paul Turner won the final two games to make the score line respectable.

Paul “Mr 180” Perkins hit his first 180 of the season in the deciding leg of his singles.  I can’t remember if I promised him that I would not mention that he lost that leg and it was against me.  Sorry Paul, my memory is not as good as it was!

The Archers recent down turn in form continued as they lost against the Seaman’s Mission 5-4, the Missions second win of the season just one week after being thumped 9-0.  Jason Davey of the Mission hit a respectable 120 out-shot during the match.  The Mission will play table topping Malvern this week.

The Bull A won the pub bragging rights as they ran out 8-1 winners against the Bull B.

The DDT’s ran out 6-3 winners to bring the Hairy Bulls winning streak to an end.  For once Ritchie Buckle did not hit a 180, in a night that George Clark also beat the Buck.  Eddie McNight of the Hairy Bull did hit his first maximum of the season during the match.

The Phoenix Cups won for the second win time in as many weeks as they ran 5-4 winners against the Three Cups.

The Wheelwrights team have changed venue, they are now playing out of the Falstaff.  The change of venue has made no difference to results as they ran out emphatic 9-0 winners against the DSAA B.

The Admiral Harvey got back to winning ways with an 8-1 victory against the Archer Whitfield and the Sportsman won 5-4 against the resurgent Phoenix A.  Paul James of the Sportsman also hit a 180.

Colin “Scouse” Habbershaw claimed the captains bragging rights in the Boars Head derby.  His side came from behind to defeat the D team 6-3 and the Old Endeavour B, who are still currently playing home matches from the Lord Nelson beat the Golden Lion A 6-3.

In division three the Carriers won 9-0 thanks to gimme from the King Edward whilst their closest rivals all won to keep the pressure on.  The Boars Head A won 6-3 against the DSAA A and the Lord Nelson beat the in form St Pauls 6-3.

The Eagle beat the Golden Lion B 6-3 to win for the second time this season, a result that leaves the Lion rooted to the bottom.  The Admiral Harvey won 8-1 against the Three Cups B, this week the cups play the leaders, Carriers Arms.

Time for a little reminder of darting etiquette!  All games must be drawn and the games are played in the order of the draw.  Captains have agreed to play games out of sequence if players need to leave early, which we have always had no problem with.

Problems do however arise when the Captains agree that they can play games out of order because somebody needs to leave early, and at the end of the night they are still at the match.

Paul Turner.

The Wheelwrights are the only team in the Dover Invitation Darts League to maintain their 100% undefeated record after they beat the Sportsman in division two and the Malvern tasted defeat in division one for the first time.

The Wheelies ran out 6-3 winners in a match that included Tony Browns first 180 of the season and 114 out shot in the pairs.  Next week the Wheelies play DSAA B, who after a steady start to the season lost for the third week on the bounce.  This week they lost to the Boars Head C, 6-3 so a return to earlier season form will be required to halt the Wheelwrights superb start.

The Admiral Harvey A have been hot on the heels of the early pace setters, however they tasted defeat for the second time this season.  This week they lost to the Phoenix A, 5-4, which was the Phoenix third win in as many weeks.

Elsewhere the Archer Whitfield won 7-2 against the Golden Lion A, who are still looking for their first win of the season and the Boars Head D picked up their first win of the season winning 5-4 against the Old Endeavour.

In division one the Malvern’s unbeaten run come to an end as they lost 6-3 to the Bull A, the Bull raced to a 5-1 lead.  The Boars Head B came from 3-1 down to run out 6-3 winners against the Archer.  The Malvern play the Boars Head B next week in a top of the table clash.

Ritchie Buckle hit his seventh 180 of the season for the Hairy Bull during their 5-4 win against the Three Cups and the Phoenix Cups won 9-0 against the Seaman’s Mission.

The DDT’s also got back to winning ways as they won 8-1 against the Bull B.  Kevin Boakes and Karl Fagg both hit 180’s during the match.  The Bull B are still looking for their first win of the season, and next week they play pub rivals the Bull A.

In division three the top of the table clash between the Carriers Arms and the Boars Head A went in favour of the Carriers 5-4.  The match was all decided on the final game with Aaron Smith beating Daphne Youden.

The Lord Nelson beat the Dover Sea Angling Association 7-2 to move joint second in the table along with St Paul’s who won 8-1 against the Eagle.

The Admiral Harvey B also won 8-1, ending the King Edwards recent winning streak and the Golden Lion B are still looking for their first win of the season as they lost 5-4 to the Three Cups B.

The team knockout draw was completed on Friday Night, and the full draw can be seen on line and will be sent to the pubs with the next league table mail shot.

Highlights from the draw include an all Archer tie and the Wheelwrights will be facing division one opposition as they face the Hairy Bull.

Paul Turner

Week six of the Dover Invitation Darts League could be called the 180 week.  No fewer than seven 180’s were hit in division one alone.  Surprisingly none of these were recorded in the top of the table clash in division one between the Malvern and The Archer.

Before this fixture neither side had lost a match, and the Malvern ran out comfortable 7-2 winners.  The Malvern play the Bull A next week in another crucial game.

Ritchie Buckle, the current 180 leader with 6, recorded his latest against the Seaman’s Mission in the Hairy Bull’s 7-2 win.  However, with out doubt the shot of the night was Martin Pepe’s 150 out shot for the Hairy.  The highest recorded this season, beating Ian Campbell’s 132 from the opening week of the season.

The Boars Head B went 180 mad in their 5-4 victory over the Phoenix Cups.  Lee Ware recorded his fourth of the season whilst Kevin Green and Paul Turner both recorded their first of the season.  Lee Ware is the current trophy holder for the 180’s in the summer league, last year he hit 7, a total that will be beaten this season, probably by more than one player.  The Boars Head make the trip up to the Archer this week in another tough fixture.

Gary Mills and Ben Tester both hit 180’s in the Bull A 7-2 win against the Diamond.  Gordon Speakman responded with his first 180 of the season in the same match.

The Three Cups picked up their third win of the season as they ran out victorious against the Bull B 8-1.

In division two the big match was between the Wheelwrights and the Admiral Harvey who were both boasting unbeaten records to date.  The Wheelwrights ran out comfortable 7-2 winners after racing to a 4-0 lead.  Craig Morton hit his first 180 of the season in a singles match that he lost 2-0.  How often does that happen!

The Boars Head C got back to winning ways with a 6-3 victory at home against the Old Endeavour B.  Not all good news for the Boars Head though as the D team lost for the sixth time this season, this week a 6-3 defeat at the Archer Whitfield.

The Sportsman won 5-4 against the Dover Sea Angling Association, and will be looking for good form again next week as they face the impressive Wheelwrights.

The Golden Lion A are still looking for their first win of the season as they lost against the Phoenix A 7-2.  That’s two wins on the trot for the Phoenix.

The Carriers beat the Lord Nelson 7-2 in the top of division three match.  It’s the second time the Nelson have tasted defeat this season in a league which looks like everybody can beat each other.

The Boars Head A ran out 5-4 winners against the Admiral Harvey B to put them joint first in the table and the St Paul’s Club won for the fourth time this season, this week beating the DSAA A 6-3.

The Eagle defeated the Three Cups B 5-4 and the King Edward ran out 6-3 down at the Golden Lion.

Next Friday the draw will be made for the team knockouts and published on the website on Saturday morning.  The draw will be made at the Archer in the presence of three of the committee members.

Paul Turner

After five games of the summer season, has the time come for the Archer to start believing that they are in with a shout of winning the league this season?  They have already exceeded their points tally from the winter season, and defeated both the Diamonds and this week The Bull A.

The Bull were leading 4-3 before the Archer turn around, with Baz Dyer winning the all important final game against Ben Tester.  Andy Howell of the Bull A recorded his third 180 of the season.

The Malvern continued their undefeated start to the season by beating the Phoenix Cups 6-3.  The Malvern were 3-2 down, but battled back to remain top of the table.  The Malvern play the Archer this Friday.

In the battle at the basement of division one the Seamans Mission defeated the Bull B 6-3.  Highlights of the match included a 126 finish from Warren Kingsnorth of the Bull and a 128 by Jason “Penfold” Davey of the Mission.

Ritchie Buckle recorded his fifth 180 of the season during his pairs match against the Boars Head B.  Boars Head lost for the first time this season as the Hairy Bull raced to 5-1 lead with the score ending up 5-4.  The Buck also shot out on 126.

The Diamonds are on the road to recovery, after losing the first three matches of the season they have now won for two weeks on the bounce.  The Three Cups were unable to reproduce the form from last weeks win against the Bull A, with the inform DDT’s winning comfortably 7-2.

In division two the Wheelwrights won 8-1 for the second week on the trot.  Lee Edwards recording an impressive 102 out-shot during the match.  The Wheelies closest rivals are the Admiral Harvey A, who are also unbeaten to date.  This week they recorded 7-2 home win against the DSAA B.  The two unbeaten sides meet each other this week at the Wheelies.

The Old Endeavour B, beat the Archer 6-3 to end their recent winning run and next week the Old E face the Boars Head C.  Finally in division three the Phoenix A picked up their first win of the season by defeating the Board Head D 8-1.  The Boars Head are still looking for their first win of the season.

Division three and its tight at the top.  Three teams are all on eight points with the Lord Nelson sitting top of the table.  The Nelson defeated winter league winners the Admiral Harvey B 5-4 this week, whilst the Carriers kept up the pressure with a 5-4 win down at the Angling Club.

St Paul’s picked up their third win of the season as they ran out 5-4 winners against the Three Cups and finally the King Edward ran out 5-4 winners against the Eagle.

A few dates for you diaries, the team knockouts start on the 1st of August, the Pairs will be on the 12th September and the singles the following week the 19th September.

A large contingency from the Dover league went to Railway Club South East Area Knockouts, and the boys done well.  Ritchie Buckle won the singles and the pairs in which his partner was Marcus Lodder.  Paul Browning, Jeff Sutch, Barry Knott and Rob Bennett were victorious in the fours.

Those of you looking for some more darts, the Lord Nelson are holding a knockout this Sunday, 4th May.  £5 each to enter, money in money out and it starts at 12.30pm.

Paul Turner

Already we are in the fourth week of the summer season, and once again there is a twist in the results from division one.  The Bull A, lost for the first time this season, and for once it was not their perennial rivals the Diamond who defeated them.  New boys to the League, The Three Cups have the feather in their cap for this win, and I wouldn’t call it a shock. Having played the team myself already, I have no doubt that they will be in with a shout this season, despite that fact they lost their first two matches.

The Malvern picked up a win to move top of the table on leg difference as they ran out 7-2 winners against the Hairy Bull.  Mark Clayton of the Malvern was in exceptional finishing form, taking out three finishes over a ton, 116, 117 and 120.  Great darts but none of them are the highest to date this season with Ian Campbell from the Admiral Harvey currently leading with a 132 out-shot.

The Archer continued with their great start to the season with a steady 6-3 win against the Phoenix Cups,  Martin Miller of the Phoenix hit his first 180 of the season during the match.  Next week the Archer face the Bull A.

The Diamond ran out emphatic 9-0 winners against the Seaman’s Mission, the Mission still looking for their first win of the season.  We all new the Diamonds wouldn’t go to long with out a win, and they will be looking to make it two on the bounce next week as they play the Three Cups.

In the final game from division one the Boars Head B also won by a 9-0 margin, this week they defeated the Bull B who are still looking for their first win of the season.

Division two and the Wheelwrights romped to an 8-1 win against the Boars Head D, to remain unbeaten this season and sit top of the tree on leg difference.  Closest rivals the Admiral Harvey A are keeping up the early pressure as they won a tight match against the Sportsman.  Tony “The Butcher” Gibbs won the last match of the game to win the game 5-4.  Paul Sellen hit a 105 out-shot in the pairs for the Harvey.

Another tight game was held at the Boars Head.  As the Boars Head C lost 5-4 to the Archer, the match was decided in the final game with Paul Clennell victorious 2-1 against Steve “Ginge” Habbershaw.

DSAA B ran out 6-3 winners against the Golden Lion B, Dennis Marsh of the Angling Club hit a 124out-shot during the match.  The Old Endeavour B ran out 7-2 winners against the Phoenix A, who are still looking for their fist win of the season.

Division three and the Lord Nelson moved to the top of the table after a 7-2 win at the Golden Lion B.  No team in division three has 100% winning record in a league that looks like many of the teams will be beating each other.

Next week the Nelson play the Admiral Harvey.  The Harvey have won three of their four games so far including a 6-3 win on Friday against the DSAA A.

The Boars Head A won 7-2 at the Eagle, the Carriers ended St Paul’s recent winning form with 5-4 victory and finally the King Edward ran out 5-4 winners against the Three Cups B.

Week three of the Dover Invitation Darts League, and who would have predicted after three matches The Archer would be sitting top of the division one table and the Diamond would still searching for their first win of the season.  In the Winter season the Archer struggled in their first ever showing in Division One, they have turned those 5-4 defeats in to victories, probably down to a little bit of confidence taken from their victory against the Diamond in the first week.

This week the Archer picked up a 6-3 win against a Hairy Bull side, with possibly the new Mr 180, Ritchie Buckle.  Ritchie hit his fourth of the season during an impressive performance against Tony Knott.  Ritchie had a shot at the bull-eye for a ten dart leg, which he eventually finished in 16.  Tony fought hard all match, took a leg of the “Buck”, but was outscored in the end.  Will the run for the Archer continue? Time will tell.

Their next opponents are the Phoenix Cups, who after leading in the pairs 2-1 eventually lost 5-4 to the Bull A.  The Bull side thought back with Gary Mills, Ian Moulson and Ash Battie all winning turning the match around.

Lee Ware and Jim Philpott enjoyed their night playing against their old team the Diamonds.  The Boars Head B took a 2-1 lead in the pairs and stretched the lead when Jim P beat Karl Fagg.  Captain Tony Kemp sneaked a win against an inform Gordon Speakman, Lee Ware defeated Kev “ Chucky” Boaks and “big” Kev Green beat Ralph Speakman to round of a 6-3 win.

The Bull B suffered a third 8-1 defeat of the season as they lost to the inform Malvern and finally in division one the Three Cups picked up their first win of the season by defeating the Seaman’s Mission 7-2.  The Mission face the Diamonds this week, so one of the teams will pick up their first win of the season.

Division two and the come back of all comebacks as the Admiral Harvey continued with their excellent start to the season.  Playing against the unbeaten Boars Head C, the trailed 3-0 after the pairs but went on to win the first five singles.  Don Morton, Ian Campbell, Donna Bailey, Craig Morton and Mark Comley all won to complete the turn around.  Kev Downs of the Boars Head went on to win the last game to make the match 5-4 and hit a 180 during his game.

The Wheelwrights continued with their good early form in their first season in the league.  Well we say first season, a couple of their players have thrown a few darts over the years.  One of those players is Tony Brown who is still undefeated along with captain, Lloyd Clubb.  The Wheelies inflicted the first defeat of the season to the Old Endeavour B, who for the time being are playing their home games at the Lord Nelson.

The Sportsman picked up their second win of the season, beating the Golden Lion A 6-3 and Tom Wayte of the Boars Head D hit his first 180 of the season during their 6-3 home defeat against the DSAA B.

The Phoenix A lost 18 games in division one last season and surprisingly they have continued with the bad run.  This week they lost for the third time this season with 5-4 defeat at the Archer.

The Old Endeavour A ran out 5-4 winners against the Lord Nelson, the division three side will be playing their home games from the Eagle for the rest of the season.

The DSAA A won for the second week on the trot by a 7-2 margin, this week against the Golden Lion B, who like the A side sit bottom of the table.

The Admiral Harvey B got back to winning ways after their defeat against the St Paul’s last week, beating the Carriers 5-4, which is their first taste of defeat this season and finally St Paul’s followed up last weeks win by beating the King Edward 6-3.

Week 2

The Archer continued with their excellent start to the Dover Invitation Darts League Summer Season with a thumping 8-1 victory over the Bull B, Matt Revitt hit his first 180 of the season during the match.  Last week the Archer beat the Diamonds 6-3, its early doors, but still the Archer sit top of division one.  The Diamond boys return to their spiritual home has not gone to plan, but we all know that they will still be side to be reckoned with this season.  However they lost for the second week on the trot, with a 6-3 defeat against title chasers the Malvern.

This Friday the Diamonds face a couple of their old players, Lee Ware and Jim Philpott, who opted to stay at the Boars Head and joined the Boars Head B, have they chose right?  Early form would say yes as the Boars Head B picked up their second win on the spin with a 5-4 tight affair against the Three Cups.  Lee Ware hit two 180’s in the pairs to make it three for the season and Alan Francombe of the Cups finished on 120 in his singles against Frank Green.

The Three Cups are looking for their first win of the season along with Seaman’s Mission, who also lost this week against the Bull A 6-3.  Andy Howells and Gary Mills hit 180’s during the match.  Andy also hit an impressive 128 finish.  Either the three Cups or the Mission will pick up their first win of the season this week as they play each other at the Cups.

And finally Ritchie Buckle hit his third 180 of the season during the Hairy Bulls 6-3 win against the Phoenix Cups.

Division two and the Boars Head C made it two out of two as they defeated the Phoenix A 5-4.  The Phoenix lead 2-1 after the pairs and Ted Hubbard hit a 180 during the match.  The Boars Head C play the Admiral Harvey A next week, who this week ran out 7-2 winners against the Golden Lion A.

Other early front runners the Wheelwrights ran out 6-3 winners against the Archer and the Old Endeavour B sneaked a 5-4 win at the Angling Club.  The Sportsman picked up their first win of the season when they beat the Boars Head D 6-3.

Division Three and the early pace setters are the Carriers Arms, after last weeks 9-0 against the Old E this week they won 7-2 against the Golden Lion B.  Hot on their heels are the Lord Nelson, thanks to a 6-3 win at the Three Cups and a gimmee last week.

Maybe the first real surprise of the season is the winter league division three winners, Admiral Harvey B slipping up against the St Paul’s club.  A 5-4 win for St Paul’s gave them their first victory of the season.

DSAA A won 7-2 against the Old Endeavour B for their first win of the season, a result that put the Old E in the bottom spot.  And finally the King Edward won their home tie against the Boars Head A 6-3.

Week one of the Dover Invitation Darts League, and already, we have our first shock result.

The Archer, relegated from division one in the winter league, defeated the Diamonds 6-3, after storming to a 5 nil lead.  Warren Dyer of the Archer, won the all important fifth game, defeating George Clark.  Kevin Boakes of the Diamond’s, hit a 180 during the match.

The Bull A started the season with a 7-2 win against the Hairy Bull, in an high scoring match 180’s were recorded by, Andy Howell of the Bull, the Moose of the Hairy Bull and finally Ritchie Buckle hit two on his return to the Dover league, again for the Hairy Bull.

The Phoenix Cups recorded the biggest win of the night, 8-1 against the Bull B.  The new boys at the Three Cups lost 6-3 to the Malvern and  Lee Ware hit a 180 during the Boars Head B’s 6-3 win against the Seaman’s Mission

In division two the Admiral Harvey ran 6-3 winners against the Boars Head D, with some super finishing from the Harvey.  Craig Morton notched up a 117 before Ian Campbell recorded a 132.

The Phoenix A lost 5-4 against the Wheelwrights; Tony Brown beat Dave Carter in the all important final game of the match.  The Boars Head C won 6-3 against the Golden Lion A and the new side from the DSAA won 6-3 up at the Archer.

Another game that was decided all on the final game was at the Old Endeavour.  Lee “Champ” Champion sealed the victory for the Endeavour beating Dan Gear of the Sportsman in a tight match.  Archie Dryden of the Old E hit a steady 106 finish on the night.

In division three, The Carriers Arm’s produced some “top darts” (according to the text message result) in their 9-0 win over the Old Endeavour A.  The Three Cups B ran 6-3 winners on their debut down at the Angling Club.  The Boars Head A won 5-4 against the St Paul’s Club and the Lord Nelson were awarded a 9-0 win after a no show from the King Edward.

The Golden Lion B lost 7-2 against the winter division three winners the Admiral Harvey B.  Will the two Harvey sides be looking for titles this season, on last seasons for they surely will be in the higher regions of the table, but only time will tell?
